Lake Nyinambuga is one of Uganda’s little-unknown gems found in the Bunyaruguru in Western Uganda. The lake was formed by 1000 years ago as result of Volcanic activity due to intense heat and pressure to the upper mantle or the interior earth which was brought about by Geo-chemical reaction and radioactivity in the earth. After the occurrence of the gaseous exploration that brows up to the surface of the earth, a flat depression was formed. And as time went by, rainwater filled the depression, hence the formation of the lake.
Unlike other crater lakes within the region with less vegetation, Lake Nyinambuga is a people’s popular choice. The lake is popularly recognized from the back of the Ugandan twenty-shilling note. It is therefore among the most common crater lakes with beautiful scenery and cleanest water compared to other crater lakes.
The lake reflects its beauty because of its blue water with incredible scenery, which was a result of intensive geological and volcanic activity.

Lake Nyinambuga was blessed with vegetation and calyptras tree and its water is used by various activities by the locals, with some engaging in fishing and farming.
