    Lake Mwamba is a crater Lake that is found in Western Uganda in Kabarole district, at an estimate terrain elevation of about 1300 ft above sea level. Lake Mwamba can be seen by the roadside as you go to visit Mahoma Falls.

    Mwamba is among the 54 volcanic crater lakes along the foothills of the Rwenzori Mountains in western Uganda. These were formed by immerse volcanic and geological forces that molded the western Uganda landscape from the Albertine rift to the Virunga mountains.

    Lake Mwamba is located on the western side, known as a home to some of the explosion crater lakes. These craters are found along the crater lake trail which takes you in Kibale forest Park, Queen Elizabeth National Park and the foothills of the Rwenzori Mountains. Pristine crater lakes in the heart of Uganda can be seen from one of the great crater lake lodges that are found here.
