Chimpanzee Habituation in Kibale Forest National Park allows you to accompany researchers in Kibale forest as they follow chimpanzees during their daily activities. As a result, you will get to know more about the chimpanzees and find them used to human presence without altering their natural behaviors.
This is an all day activity and early visitors may be able to see the spectacular scene of chimps de-nesting, feeding, copulating, hunting, breast feeding, resting, patrolling and displaying. It runs until they build new nests and retire for the night around 7.00pm. Note: advance booking for this activity is essential.
The community undergoing habituation has more than 350 individuals and has been habituated for more than five years and is still undergoing the process.
Your driver guide will drive you to the park by 6:00am for a briefing before heading to the park, and you there after head to the forest to meet these primates while they are still in their nest. So you may be lucky to observe them de-nesting.
A packed lunch and enough water will be arranged with the lodge you booked, since you will need to take it along. You will then observe the entire social life of the chimps as you keep following them along the trails. Sometimes you may move along the thickets so as to keep them on truck.
