Itinerary:
Day 1: Entebbe/Kampala – Kibale National Park
You’ll leave Kampala after breakfast for a fascinating drive through papyrus swamps and thick jungle of the Nile delta to Kibale National Park, just below the Rwenzori Mountains. Get on an afternoon guided walk in the crater lakes area for outstanding views.
Meals and overnight stay at Kyaninga Lodge (luxury facility) or Primate Lodge/Forest Cottage (mid range) or Chimpanzee Guest House (budget facility). All with stunning location overlooking a dramatic crater lake and the fabled “Mountains of the Moon”. Meal plan: L & D
Day 2: Chimpanzee Trekking in Kibale
In the morning, you will have breakfast and then proceed to Kibale head quarters for briefing before setting off for a forest walk in search for chimpanzees. The forest walk will be guided to provide information not only on chimpanzees and primates but also on small species, thus making it interesting.
The walk will immensely reward you because of the many other primates, like; Grey cheeked Mangabeys, Colobus monkeys, Red-tailed monkeys and L’Hoest’s Monkey.
After tracking the chimps, you will go for a nature walk to the Bigodi swamp in the afternoon, to see unique flora and fauna.

Day 3: Kibale National Park – Bwindi
Today’s drive is through what is probably East Africa’s most spectacular scenery, the highland rain forests which reach the volcanoes, where the mountain gorillas reside. You’ll make an entry through Ishasha for a game drive on your way to Bwindi so, you won’t miss the tree climbing lions. Later, drive to Bwindi via the beautiful scenery of the tea plantations, and the lushest highland rain forest on earth, filled with primates and exotic birds.
The afternoon is spent on a foot safari around the local communities living around the park.
Dinner and overnight stay at either Buhoma Lodge/Mahogany Springs/Gorilla Safari Lodge (high end lodge) or Sliverback Lodge/Chameleon Hill Lodge (mid range) or Buhoma community Bandas/Wagtail Eco Camp (budget facility). Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
Day 4: Bwindi Gorilla Trekking
Begin the day with breakfast ready for gorilla trekking, which begins at 8:00 am with a briefing from the Uganda Wildlife Authority staff. Ensure to carry along with you rain jacket, drinking water, snacks, jungle boots etc. The guides will lead you inside the jungle to see the shy primates for a group you have been booked for.
Do not forget to take your lunch boxes and all the necessary gear to track the rare mountain gorillas, perhaps one of the most exciting wildlife experiences on earth. There are now only 650 left in the world, and this tracking may take between 2 to 6 hours, but it’s well worth the effort.

Day 5: Bwindi – Kampala/Entebbe
Return to Kampala, then Entebbe, with lunch en-route and a stopover at Igongo Cultural Centre to explore the lifestyle of the Ankole and Bahima. Thereafter proceed at the Equator crossing before your evening departure back home. Meal Plan: B & L.
Alternatively, fly back from Bwindi at US$ 270.00 per person directly to Entebbe Airport with Aerolink.
